CCUW Women United: January 2024 Newsletter

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season! As we are welcome in the new year and reflect on the past year, Women United members should celebrate their many accomplishments and contributions to the Centre County community in 2023! We are eager to see what is in store for 2024!

Grant Project Update:

Children's Space at the Courthouse

In the Summer of 2023 Women United provided a grant of $6,350 for the Centre County Courthouse Children’s Space. On December 6, 2023, that space was dedicated and made available as a waiting space for children and youth who have to appear in court. It is an alternative for children and teens who in the past had to wait on the benches in the hallways of the Courthouse. The renovated room provides them instead with a peaceful, secure waiting space. Additional information about the space and the dedication can be found at:

In other Women United news...

We continued our holiday support of Child Access Center clients. Women United members contributed a total of $3,000 to provide $50 holiday gift cards to 60 client families. We played a role in ensuring that holiday joy made it to their homes.

Following up on our After Hours event at The Rivet in November, our dish creations are available to pick up at the Centre County United Way office! Pictured above is an example of one member's beautiful results!

2023 Campaign:

Women United Contributions

If you have not yet made a 2023 designated contribution to Women United, there is still time. Your Centre County United Way contribution specifically designated for Women United funds our annual grants. The grant that made possible the Children’s Space mentioned above is one of the most recent. Since 2008 Women United, originally known as Women’s Leadership Group, has provided over $183,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations for start-up projects that specifically support women and children in the Centre County area.
